The mystery behind of the Lake Van is somewhat uniqe. About one thousand people claimed to witness the monster. People who have seen the monster claimed that the monster is about fifteen meters long with spikes on its back and appears similar to a Plesiosaur or Ichthyosaurus.
Lake Van is a lake which located between Van and Bitlis cities in Turkey. It is about 4,800 square miles, with an estimated length of 119 km and this is huge.
According to the information, the claims of seeing Lake Van Monster wasn't reported before 1995 (Turkish reports say 1993). According to the claims, the monster had been seen in 1997 first time.
In the year 1997, a local man, Unal Kozak, a teaching assistant at Van University, captured the creature on video which was sent for analysis. But the video wasn't confirmed by concerned institutions. His video was under constant criticism, with questions like why it never pans left, possibly because of a boat that may have carried the creature. Or why the monster only goes straight, instead of curving through the water. Even criticism as to why the breathing is not in and out, but a continuous release, much like the effects of an air hose.
The Lake Van Monster legend has become popular. Even, a film about the Lake Van Monster is being made.
